On the first week in January of 1926 at the New York Auto Show, the General Manager of Oakland Division, GM’s Alfred Sloan, and Native Americans launched Pontiac as a companion brand to Oakland. It was the most successful new automotive launch the world had seen to that date, and a precursor to the significant innovation Pontiac would bring to the industry over the next 80 years. A great reason for a centennial celebration in 2026!!

From June 22-27, 2026 the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) will hold a convention – how else but in Pontiac, Michigan with the museum as host! This group of owners and enthusiasts focuses on Pontiacs and Oaklands, but also GMC brand trucks. Not their first rodeo – they’ve been doing annual conventions for about a half century – but this will be the biggest with about 1200 people expected that week (from most of the 50 states and many foreign travelers). It’ll be a busy week in and around Pontiac – with plenty of automotive eye-candy!
