Our Board and 501(c)(3)
The Pontiac Transportation Museum is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) – a non-profit organization as recognized by the State of Michigan and Federal Government (“Pontiac Transportation Museum”, non-profit tax ID #92-2137603). As such we are governed by a Board of Directors. So the creation and growth of this museum is ultimately a project of our board – which gathered some experience from with operating the Pontiac-Oakland Museum and Resource Center in Pontiac, IL since 2010. This group is responsible for guidance of areas such as:
• Mission and vision
• Capital and operating budgets.
• Annual reports.
• Personnel policies
• Major organizational changes, asset sales, or acquisition
• Creating operating bylaws.
• Guidance/maintenance of the integrity of the organization
We value transparency in our operations. View a summary of our 2024 Fiscal Year Non-Profit IRS 990 filing here if you have interest. 2024_Tax_Returns[1] We also undertook to have a third party “financial review” performed for our 2024 balance sheet and revenue/expenses. See their report here . PONTIAC TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM-FINAL FS (1) We would be pleased to provide more of the background detail to this for parties with a specific request.
